  2.               LAUNCHING SERVICES FOR NETWARE IN WINDOWS NT

  4. Microsoft networking strategy is that every client can access every
  5. server and any server should work with any client.  A large percentage
  6. of customers have NetWare.  Therefore, Microsoft wants to seamlessly
  7. integrate Windows NT and NetWare networks.   To do so, weÆve built a set
  8. of services for Windows NT called Services for NetWare, that includes:

  10.           Client Service for NetWare in Windows NT Workstation
  11.             Gateway Service for NetWare in Windows NT Server
  12.  
  13. This umbrella strategy will also grow to other environments such as
  14. Services for UNIX, for example.  The announcements today focus on the
  15. NetWare component.

  17. SHIPPING TODAY : SERVICES FOR NETWARE FULFILLMENT PACK!

  19. Formerly known by itÆs project name NWCS, the Services for NetWare
  20. fulfillment pack includes the Client Service for NetWare for Windows NT
  21. Workstations and the Gateway Service for NetWare for Windows NT Servers.
  22. The Client Service for NetWare connects Windows NT Workstations to
  23. NetWare servers.  The Gateway Service is a service only offered on
  24. Windows NT Servers.  Desktops connected to the Windows NT Server can
  25. access file, printer and application resources located on the NetWare
  26. server, because Windows NT Server can act as a gateway to the NetWare
  27. server. The Services for NetWare delivers on our commitment to address
  28. the number one customer requirement for users of Windows NT version 3.1-
  29. connectivity to NetWare.

  31. SOFTWARE AVAILABILITY:

  33. Services for NetWare fulfillment pack is available now on Compuserve or
  34. Internet at no cost except for connect time.  Online documentation is
  35. also available.

  44. The fulfillment is $14.95 for cost of goods plus shipping. It is a
  45. single disk set for both Windows NT and Windows NT Server. Skus
  46. 236-074-250 for 3.5, 236-073-250 for 5.25ö.  Please keep in mind that we
  47. will start shipping kits on from manufacturing starting June 6.

  49. Note:  This is a temporary fulfillment SKU as these services will be
  50. incorporated into Daytona.  This software will also only work with
  51. Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1, Daytona beta
  52. already includes these services.

  54. INSTALLATION AND DECOMPRESSION OF THE INSTALLATION DISKETTES
  55.  
  56. There are two diskettes for the installation of Services for Netware.
  57. These files will be called NCCx_y.EXE where x will be:
  58.  
  59.         I = Intel
  60.         M = Mips
  61.         A = Alpha
  62.  
  63. and y is the disk number. 
  64.  
  65. To create your diskette set, copy the files to your hard disk and have
  66. two formatted 3.5 inch diskettes available.
  67.  
  68. To create disk 1 of the Services for Netware, first place a formatted
  69. diskette in your A: drive (or B drive if your B drive is your 3.5 drive
  70. and type) and type :

  72.              NCCx_1.EXE A: <RETURN>
  73.  
  74. Note : remember to replace the 'x' with what matches your file named.
  75. This will run the self extracting archive and copy all the appropriate
  76. files to that floppy diskette.

  78. Then repeat the above procedure for your second diskette to create disk
  79. 2 for Services for Netware.

  81. After creating these disks, you should read the INSTAL.DOC for
  82. installation instructions.
